Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron Safely Resumes Elective Surgery

The specialty-trained surgeons at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron have resumed elective surgery, or scheduled nonemergency surgery, for their patients. Since the state’s stocks of health care resources, including personal protective equipment, ventilators, etc., are in sufficient supply, Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron will offer elective and emergency surgical treatment and in-office care while continuing to follow health authority safety guidelines and gubernatorial executive orders to protect their patients and staff. Patients in need of specialized bone, joint and muscle care are encouraged to call (810) 985-4900 to schedule a safe appointment in Port Huron. Telehealth appointments are also available.

“Nonemergency surgery was halted in order to conserve the supply of personal protective equipment, and due to the efforts of our local health care facilities and dedicated area residents, our supply of medical resources has been deemed more than adequate,” says Dr. E. Neil Pasia, fellowship-trained spine surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron. “In line with our governor’s orders and the needs of our community, we have resumed surgery so our patients no longer have to wait for the advanced orthopedic care they need.”

The practice will continue to adhere to the strict protocols they have in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in their office. These protocols will extend to pre- and postoperative care in addition to the measures taken to keep operating rooms and equipment sterile.

Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron will provide care in the state-of-the-art operating rooms of Blue Water Surgery Center, where they provide outpatient orthopedic surgery. Their surgeons and specialized medical staff strictly follow the latest and highest standards in patient safety and will take extra precautions. Patient prescreening processes with strict health guidelines will be enforced before scheduling and performing surgery. All staff also undergo daily screening. Additionally, all cleaning procedures adhere to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We’re proud of our state and community for working together to support our local, frontline health care professionals and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its strain on our health system,” says Dr. Pasia. “We are excited to offer safe elective surgical treatment in addition to urgent care and procedures to help our patients with pain relief and help them restore their healthy, active lives.”

While Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron resumes scheduling patients for elective surgery as well as initial and follow-up appointments in their offices, their providers also offer telehealth visits to provide remote consultation for bone, joint and muscle problems.
