  • “I was reluctant to begin therapy at first. But knowing that it was necessary to rehab my shoulder after the surgery I began. However the positive atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff and the professionalism of therapists quickly changed my perspective. Dr. Donna Grundman was my primary therapist, her knowledge and manner made the whole experience enjoyable. The secretarial staff particularly Becky and Tammy always had smiles and were extremely adept at working out a schedule. Should I ever need to have therapy again I would not hesitate to return to Orthopedic Associates for another quality experience. Thank You.”

  • “Dr. Makim has been excellent in managing my care. I am in my 50's and have severe joint degeneration in my knees. My objective was to improve my functionality and mobility so that I can delay a joint replacement for as long as possible. Dr Makim worked with me on that objective and I am 3 years post diagnosis and have not needed to have a joint replacement yet. Marc in PT was excellent at setting up a treatment plan that met my objectives and increased my mobility.”

  • “Frozen Shoulder - Upon returning from three months in Florida where they had no success treating my frozen shoulder (X-ray, MRI, cortisone shots, physical therapy), I went to Dr. Murphy. They took another X-ray, repeated the MRI, and had me try 3 more weeks of physical therapy, then they put me under and Dr. Murphy broke the adhesions. He said I was tied for the worst frozen shoulder he has every dealt with. After some more physical therapy, my shoulder was completely healed. Unless I think about it, I can't even tell which shoulder it was. I was impressed with my whole experience at Orthopedic Associates.  I never waited long for an appointment, all the staff was friendly and professional, and Dr. Murphy was extremely competent, caring, and humorous.”

  • “Unfortunately, I have had to come to your offices for too many incidents. I really like the way they have the layout. I've not had to wait long in the offices. I really appreciate that everything is right there on the premises. And best of all, they have been very kind and caring. Thank you all.”

  • “I went to see Dr. Ernst one morning because I could barely walk. I had woken up that morning with the worst back pain I had ever felt. After numerous trips to physical therapy, cortisone injections, steroids, etc...he determined I needed surgery for a slipped disc and sent me to see Dr. Pasia. Dr Pasia, to this day, is the best, and my favorite doctor I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He did a wonderful job on my surgery and this many years later, I'm doing great and have had no complications. I will always be grateful and would recommend ANYONE to go see Dr Pasia!!!”

  • “Dr. Makim treated my condition with compassion and respect. His training is excellent, he has terrific bedside manner and is the epitome of competent.  His surgical skills are extraordinary.  I am trying to think of any constructive criticism and I am coming up empty.  He really is a tremendous individual and doctor and I would trust him with my family's lives without reservation.”

  • “The kindness and generosity of the entire staff at OA made a very difficult experience most tolerable. I came into OA with no insurance and needing knee surgery. I had torn a meniscus and it had flipped, and was locked at an angle, and no way to repair without surgery. I was unable to walk without being in excruciating pain.  They saw to it that I was treated very quickly, helped me through surgery, and then again in Physical Therapy.  Without the generosity of the entire staff, I would still be in excruciating pain and unable to walk. Thanks to all of you.”

  • “One year ago today Dr. Pasia inserted 3 rods, 6 screws and 2 spacers in my lower back. (L4, L5, S1). I would like to thank Dr. Pasia for best year of pain free life I have led in 20 years. I never dreamed I would ever feel "normal" again, but here I am free of pain medication and anti-inflammatories. Thank you Dr. Pasia for giving me my life back!”

  • “On Jan. 26th, I just stood up and experienced searing pain in my knee. Had I known what I know now, I would have gone to Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron as soon as possible. Because I didn't know I could do that, I went to my own doctor and ended up wasting an entire week of time trying to get a diagnosis. On Monday, Feb. 3rd, I saw Dr. Scott Heithoff, who assessed my condition, sent me for an MRI and by Feb. 7th, I was diagnosed and scheduled for surgery to repair my torn meniscus. I had the surgery done on Feb. 25th; everything went amazingly well. The staff at the surgery center was all so accommodating and informative. I had such little pain after surgery, that I never even took one pain pill. I started physical therapy on Feb. 28th and have already been released (March 17th) because I am doing so well. The follow up appointment on March 7th with Dr. Heithoff went great. He released me to go back to my regular exercise routine with caution, of course. I was so impressed with the ease of this surgical procedure and I am glad that I had such a knowledgeable and professional doctor, who took care of the problem with such clarity and skill. Thank you, Dr. Heithoff and everyone at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron, who have made my life so much easier!”

  • “Dr. Makim was so great with my sick knee and me. I was waiting for a knee replacement but couldn't get into the doctor’s office. Dr. Makim saw me and drained my knee. He explained to me that normally he would drain the knee and then give me a cortisone shot. Since it was so close to the knee replacement, he couldn't give me the cortisone shot. I was just thankful he drained my sick knee. Thank you, Dr. Makim and I will never forget how nice you were to me.”

  • “To start, what a great place to have where they are so professional. My doctor recommended me to Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Kreis examined me. We decided on our plan for repairing my knee. We did all the prep to make sure what was wrong with MRI's and an X-ray. We then did surgery to repair the knee, which could not have gone better. Now my knee is almost back to normal. If you’re looking for true professionals, this is the place that includes all the staff I dealt with. One of my friends also had a wrist problem and Dr. Heithoff fixed him up.”

  • “On March 7, 2011, Dr. Pasia did a spinal fusion on L4, L5 and S1. I recovered fine and was feeling great. I told Dr. Pasia he gave me my life back. On Labor Day weekend 2013, I fell on my back. I had severe pain in my back and was sure I dislodged a spacer or broke something. Dr. Pasia ordered X-rays and assured me my rods, screws, and spacers were secure and that I had pulled a muscle in my back. He prescribed pain medication, muscle relaxers, and ordered physical therapy for me. He reassured me at one visit that he would get me back to where I was. Today was my last physical therapy visit and I feel great. Thank you, Dr. Pasia.”

  • “I am currently receiving physical therapy twice a week under the guidance of Donna and Karen. I have never run into such a large group of professionals as caring and confident as they are! Besides the "normal" routine, which is exercises and manual therapy, the encouragement I receive from everyone is appreciated. Even though my condition resembles MS, I refuse to go backwards but progress positively with Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron support and future therapy activities.”

  • “My surgeon was Dr. Scott Heithoff. He was excellent, did a great job, and replaced my left hip. Then I had physical therapy from Krista Marquardt and she was excellent also. Everyone in the physical therapy department was helpful, kind, patient, and cared about their patients.”

  • “Thanks for getting me through knee replacement with flying colors. The surgery went well. I was well informed before and after and knew what to expect. The hospital staff was on top of their game and my doctor was the best. Thank you. My surgery was in November and I'm pain free. Thanks. You are the best.”

  • “My son got a football injury, which turned out to be a completely torn ACL. We were seeing an orthopedic specialist close to our home for a month after the injury occurred. We weren't happy with the progress, so I inquired on whom would be a good choice to contact and I ended up calling Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron.   Dr. Murphy had an appointment available the same day I called, which was impressive enough. My son had surgery the very next day, which was an amazing experience for me as a parent and him as a patient. Dr. Murphy and the staff were very pleasant and efficient. I can't imagine how delayed my son's recovery process would have been if we wouldn’t have contacted Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron. I am very happy that my son is on the road to recovery and on his way back to being active in the sports he loves so much. I will recommend this facility to anyone who asks.”

  • “"I would like to commend a couple people on staff at OA that recently helped me. The first, Becky Hortop, was able to put me in touch with the right person to get the answers I needed to move my treatment forward when I thought I was stuck in a revolving door again. The second, Julie in patient appointment scheduling, really went the extra distance to assist me over the phone. I could tell she was confused by what I telling her because it really didn't make sense to her. Julie must have sensed my frustration over the phone, so she took it upon herself to do the research and called me back. Within minutes, at the end of her workday, she had what I needed to get the medical care I needed. Kudos to these two professionals. You should be proud to have them on your staff and associated with Orthopedics Associates." -- Kurt V.”

  • “"Six weeks ago, I underwent lower back surgery. I was having pain and numbness in my lower back that was running down my left leg. Dr. Pasia of Orthopedic Associates performed the surgery. By the end of the first day, I was up walking short distances with a walker. The second day, I was walking on my own. After a short recovery in Port Huron Hospital, I was released to go home. Recovery has been very positive and moving forward. It was a very positive experience from the start to the point I'm at. My goal is to return to work, as it has been from the start and I'm well on the way." -- Randy M. ”
