Gary G. Doss, D.O., general orthopedics and sports medicine surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron, retired from orthopedic practice at the end of September after providing orthopedic and sports medicine care to residents of Port Huron and the surrounding communities for 35 years.
Dr. Doss, who joined Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron in 1983, has been dedicated to diagnosing and treating area patients’ bone, joint and muscle injuries and conditions for nearly 40 years.
“As I recall my years of covering area football games, I’ve had the pleasure to know and treat a spectacular group of athletes and coaches,” says Dr. Doss. “It was a true privilege to provide orthopedic care to this community, especially to the farmers who work hard to provide nourishment for our families. I’ve cherished having a doctor-patient relationship with everyone I’ve cared for throughout the years.”
Dr. Doss has earned multiple awards and recognitions during his years in practice. He has been honored with the Friend of Kids Award from Port Huron Area School District, the Michigan State Medical Society Community Service Award, the Special Recognition Award from Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and the Humanitarian Award from St. Louis Metropolitan Hospital Association for life-saving worksite surgery. Dr. Doss has been inducted into the Parkway Alumni Hall of Fame and has received special recognition from the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame for his contribution to the Port Huron sports environment. In addition to these distinctions, Dr. Doss has also served as a sports medicine coordinator and past president of the St. Clair County Medical Society.
“I thank all of my patients, staff, colleagues and the community for their support over the years, and I am confident in my partners’ abilities to maintain the high-quality orthopedic care patients have come to expect from Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron,” says Dr. Doss.
