-A +A

Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron’s surgery center, Blue Water Surgery Center, has been recognized as number one on the 2018 Top 10 Patient Experience Centers listing by AMSURG, one of the country’s largest surgery center management companies. The list of 2018 Top 10 Patient Experience Centers is determined by the scores on the Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (OAS CAHPS) survey. The scores were compiled based on the key metric questions regarding the overall satisfaction, the comfort provided by staff, and the check-in process.

“We are proud to be recognized as the number-one surgery center by the 2018 Top 10 Patient Experience Centers listing,” says Dr. Rajesh Makim, sports medicine surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron and medical director of the Blue Water Surgery Center. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to excellence, which we continually strive for."

The OAS CAHPS survey was developed in 2012 to measure important patient care experiences in Medicare-certified hospital outpatient departments and ambulatory surgery centers. It focuses on patient experiences, such as check-in, discharge, and recovery, and how well the facility prepared, provided overall care, and communicated. The survey was designed to give the public access to data that compares different facilities so that patients can make informed decisions as to where to go for their care.

Founded in 1992, AMSURG is a leader in the management of surgery centers and one of the top ambulatory surgery center management companies in the country. AMSURG works with over 2,000 physicians and 250 facilities all over the United States, focusing on promoting quality patient care.
