Orthopedic Surgeon - Fellowship Trained

Originally from Portage, Michigan, Dr. Braaksma is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Braaksma joined Orthopedic Associates in 2015.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology at Albion College, Dr. Braaksma earned his doctorate of medicine from Wayne State University in Detroit. He then began both his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners – MSU, after which, Dr. Braaksma underwent extensive fellowship training at Harborview Medical Center through the University of Washington in Seattle.

Dr. Braaksma is board certified for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  Dr. Braaksma scored in the 99th percentile on his Orthopedic In-training Exam.

When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Braaksma enjoys reading, playing basketball, running, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his wife, their son and two daughters along with their black lab.
