  • “"Working with Orthopedic Associates was/is a great experience. Last August, I started to have pain from the sciatic nerve in my right leg. I endured the pain until I could no longer stand it. I am 81 years old and my life was one of pain, and I could hardly walk. So in early December, I visited Dr. Sciotti. He set me up on a course of therapy." "Working with Dr. Muzzrelli and Kristin and the therapy team, they put me on a regimen of working at the OA facility, which is stocked with an enormous variety of exercise equipment. Through ultrasound treatment, moist blanket applications, and massage along with exercise, I started to respond. The atmosphere working with the therapy team was enjoyable. After 2.5 months of visits three times a week and the two epidural shots, I am virtually pain-free. In February, I drove to Siesta Key, Florida, and walked on the beach daily, played golf, and enjoyed life with my family again. My wife had foot surgery so she could not drive so I drove all 1320 miles. Kristin gave me a tip of doing a '"pelvic tilt" while I was driving, so I arrived pain-free. I still faithfully do my exercises at home which allows me to enjoy life with my family." --Robert S.”

  • “I came to OAPH at the end of 2010 because I injured my back at work (disc herniation). I first met with Dr. Pasia, which began my treatment. Dr. Pasia was very compassionate with my situation and encouraged me to do everything I could to care for my back other than him performing surgery on my back. He put me into PT where I first met with Laura; she's awesome. The entire staff at OA has really shined a bright light as to how a PT office is to operate daily. The staff at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron is a fun-loving family with a great passion for what they do for everyone. I will mention Rob, Donna, Karen, and all the training staff. Each one of these people has made me a better person physically as well as spiritually and emotionally. Let's not forget Jenny and Jessica at the front desk. I have had many wonderful conversations with these beautiful women. May God bless you all and keep the current atmosphere alive and well. Oh yes, I almost forgot: thank you very much, Julie, for your sweet and kind words as well. If I forgot anyone, it's not intentional. God bless you all and DO NOT lose the humor, great conversations and deep-rooted compassion to 'Keep People Moving.' OAPH serves as a place of hope to so many who have experienced an unexpected situation in life and hope is ALWAYS a good thing. Thank you!!”

  • “"I am an Ontario resident who was injured in October of 2009 from a fall that severed all left shoulder tendons and damaged rotator cuff. My wife and I went to Port Huron to shop for a few days. While shopping, a lady in the hair shop where my wife said Port Huron has one of the best orthopedic clinics in North America and I should call them. I called and spoke with a shoulder specialist by the name of Dr. Makim and he would see me the following afternoon. Three weeks later I have about ninety percent mobility and have been pain free since the day of surgery. I have nothing but praise for everyone involved in my surgery as well as my follow up care at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron." -- Ron L.”

  • “"After months of ignoring shoulder pain, getting referrals for physical therapy from my primary care physician, waking up to pain two to three times a night, I decided it was time to seek professional care. Thanks to both Drs. Scott Heithoff and Todd Murphy. I am sleeping through the night and so excited about being able to resume golf. Thank you!" -- Linda V.”

  • “"I have had back pain for 12 years and since it started every year it became worse and worse. It would start in my lower back and shoot down both legs. My feet would tingle and burn. Some days I could barely even move. I was terrified to even think about surgery. I stopped participating in many things I enjoyed just to avoid being in excruciating pain the next day. I eventually found my self sitting out of almost every activity that involved bending, twisting, or lifting. I'm a home nurse and even performing my job duties were becoming more and more difficult. I reached my breaking point August 2012. I finally went to see Dr. Pasia and then found out how bad my back really was. Dr. Pasia performed a posterior decompression with lumbar fusion at L4/5 and L5/S1 on October 1, 2012. The surgery went very well, but I did have some complications after surgery and ended up being in the hospital for eight days. None of those problems had anything to do with my back, just some things that sometimes happen as people try to recover. This surgery was definitely not easy to recover from in the first three or four days. Dr. Pasia was so caring and compassionate. When he had already been in to see me at the hospital for the day he would call and check on me. His bedside manor is amazing as well as his surgical skills. I am so pleased with him and I would recommend Dr. Pasia hands down to anyone that may need back surgery. I am exactly two weeks out of surgery today and I am amazed with my progress. The pain in my legs is totally gone and the back pain is very different than before. I know I have a long way to go, but I have faith that in time I will be able to enjoy life again the way I used to and participate in activities I've avoided for so long. I cannot thank Dr. Pasia enough for what he has done for me already. I am excited to see how much better I will feel every week!" -- Carie P.”

  • “"I have had serious back pain since 2000. In May 2008 I began caudle injections with Dr. Sciotti. The injections provided much welcome relief but it wasn't a long-term fix. Dr. Sciotti told me that in time I would need surgery. I couldn't take the pain any longer by December 2010, so in March 2011 I scheduled surgery. Dr Pasia told me I would see 70% improvement in my legs and 50% improvement in my back. The surgery went well and by April 2011 I knew I had made the right decision of surgeons and overall practice. I did exactly what Dr. Pasia suggested which was walk. I felt so great that by April I walked for 45 minutes, which was amazing for me. Today I have absolutely no back pain. My legs and my back are at 100%. I am extremely pleased with the service I received. Dr. Sciotti and Dr. Pasia have given me my life back." -- Shirley C.”

  • “"I was diagnosed by an orthopedic surgeon in Florida with neck and shoulder problems. I talked with several friends who worked with Dr. Makim and all had success stories. I went to him and after several months of therapy and evaluations where surgery was not an immediate solution. I have gone from a pain level of eight to two through exercise and therapy. Dr, Makim has impressed me with his personal interest. Thanks for bringing golf back into my life! I highly recommend!" -- Stan V.”

  • “"My son Kyle and daughter Aubyrn have been seen by Dr. Scott Heithoff for separate incidents. Kyle (13) had a knee injury sustained while playing basketball. Dr. Heithoff recommended physical therapy. Kyle was referred to Mark Muzzarelli for treatment. Mark was very thorough, setting up a rigid physical therapy routine that would increase Kyle’s strength. We are very happy with the results. Kyle will have to continue what he has learned from Mark to maintain his strength and we are thankful for the knowledge we attained to keep our son healthy. Aubyrn (11) had a solid break in her left humorous. Concerned with her age and activity level, Dr. Heithoff casted her arm for a few weeks, and then had her in a sling with limited movement. Her arm is healing nicely and she is back to her old self-playing basketball, dancing, and riding horses. Thank you to Dr. Heithoff and the entire staff at Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron for taking care of our family." -- Tina V.”

  • “"It all started seventeen years ago with my first visit. I saw Dr. Kreis for knee surgery. Everything went great. Unfortunately I injured myself again, and this time Dr. Scott Heithoff was my doctor. With a couple screws, some tape, and several visits later, I was once again treated. However this time it was not an injury, but arthritis that has brought me back to Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron. Drs. Wilmont Kreis and Scott Heithoff have been making sure that I am as comfortable as I can be until I have my hip replacement done. Thank you OA!" -- Donald H.”

  • “"Dr. Scott Heithoff has given me my life back. At the age of 47, my right hip had to be replaced due to an injury and arthritis. I remember crying in the office and having to go through this surgery and not knowing what to expect. After the loss of my father days before my surgery, I was not mentally prepared. Dr. Scott Heithoff knew this and was very patient with me. Seven months later, I finally had the surgery and just after two weeks I was back in the water at the YMCA for therapy. In the past three years I haven’t had any issues with my right hip and was able to hike four mountains in four days in Vermont, x-ski, snowshoe, walk a 13-minute mile, bike, and take on a second career of teaching water aerobics at the YMCA. I am now scheduled for my left hip replacement. I know what I have to do to get strong again and I will thanks to Dr. Scott Heithoff's great expertise. I trust him and his staff 100%." -- Kathy L.”

  • “I am 52 years old and my knee has been sore, swollen and weak. This was NOT the first time but I decided to have it investigated. After seeing Dr. Murphy and having X-rays and a MRI, it turned out to be osteoarthritis. Can't say I'm too happy about that, but Dr. Murphy and the staff were super professional and super friendly and understanding. Great team! I will definitely be back! They know their stuff!"  -- Laurie W.”

  • “I would like to thank Dr. Sciotti for the caudal injections he gave me for almost 2 years before my surgery.  Dr. Sciotti, you got me mobile again for at least a couple of months at a time.  I would also like to thank your nursing staff (Leslie and Tammy) and all the others for being with me during the injections and when I had to have that dreadful nerve test.  Dr. Sciotti, thank you for being honest when I was unsure of the surgery.  I intend on taking good care of my new rods and screws!  Love ya.”

  • “One year ago today Dr. Pasia inserted 3 rods, 6 screws and 2 spacers in my lower back. (L4, L5, S1). I would like to thank Dr. Pasia for best year of pain free life I have led in 20 years. I never dreamed I would ever feel "normal" again, but here I am free of pain medication and anti-inflammatories. Thank you Dr. Pasia for giving me my life back!”

  • “It's hard to believe that I'm actually going back to Dr. Scott Heithoff this morning for my 6 month check-up.  I don't think anybody at work really "believes" I actually broke my hip and have a new one.  It hasn't changed my walking at all.  Actually, maybe it's even better!!!  THANK YOU SO MUCH!  Orthopedic Associates has the best team ever!!”

  • “The kindness and generosity of the entire staff at OA made a very difficult experience most tolerable. I came into OA with no insurance and needing knee surgery. I had torn a meniscus and it had flipped, and was locked at an angle, and no way to repair without surgery. I was unable to walk without being in excruciating pain.  They saw to it that I was treated very quickly, helped me through surgery, and then again in Physical Therapy.  Without the generosity of the entire staff, I would still be in excruciating pain and unable to walk. Thanks to all of you.”
