I have never written a testimonial before let alone did I ever think I would write to express my experience at OA. I mentioned the doctors that I have received treatment from (Drs. Sciotti, Murphy & Scott Heithoff) and I have to say I would recommend them to anyone needing Orthopedic or specialized care, but I want to express my deepest appreciation to all those that work at Orthopedic Associates whom have touched my life and health care in a profound way! To the staff, physicians assistants, X-ray department personnel, billing and schedulers and to everyone in the physical therapy department and the Surgery Center; I want to recognize as well. My experience has been that of professionalism, friendliness, and kindness as well as understanding my health care needs. I would not think of going anywhere else for my Orthopedic needs. Thanks
After ten years of constant knee pain I decided it was time to put aside my fears of surgery and have the procedure done. Dr. Makim was professional and caring before and after my surgery. My surgery was two years ago and I had less pain immediately following the surgery and I'm still pain free! I'm looking forward to having my other knee surgery and Dr. Makim will once again be my surgeon of choice for the procedure. Thank you, once again, Dr. Makim for making my life so much better.
Dr. Heithoff is great. He found the problem in my knee and with only outpatient surgery, completely took it all away. I would also like to compliment the whole staff at the surgery center. Everyone was friendly and nice and made my experience there as enjoyable as possible. I want to thank you all.
After many months of pain in my forearm and numbness in my hand, I made an appointment with Dr. Heithoff. I had sought other treatments that were expensive, time consuming and did not work! The OA staff is always courteous and helpful, with a beautiful organized office. I was escorted to x-ray and back to the exam room, always informed of what was being done and the time frame. Dr. Heithoff was punctual, and, having a monitor in the exam room was very helpful to show me my x-ray and explain it. He knew what to do to alleviate my symptoms, administered an injection skillfully and told me to return if needed. No unnecessary follow-up. Needless to say, the injection worked and I was symptom free. And, when I broke my finger in a "dog walking incident", I returned to Dr. Heithoff for his excellent care. We are fortunate to have a hand surgeon of his stature in Port Huron and I thank Dr. Heithoff and his staff for their wonderful care.
We knew it was time to get help when the pain made us both think twice about our passion—playing golf. Sharon was plagued with pain in her right knee, which Dr. Kreis diagnosed as a significant tear in the lateral medial meniscus with some degenerative changes. He recommended arthroscopic surgery. My extremely painful thumb joints turned out to be bilateral basal joint arthritis, which Dr. Steve Heithoff, OA’s hand specialist, proposed be treated with bilateral tendon arthroplasty surgery.
Anxious to return to the course, we were both fortunate to be able to schedule our surgeries at the Blue Water Surgery Center, the area’s only center specializing in outpatient orthopedic surgery. Having had other procedures in a large hospital, OA’s surgery center was so much more convenient and the one-on-one treatment made us feel more at ease.
Thanks to the extremely thorough treatment Sharon received from Dr. Kreis and my fantastic care from Dr. Steve, we’ve both recovered beautifully and we were back to playing golf in just six weeks. What a great experience.
I lead a pretty active life…I taught at Armada High School for 35 years, coached football and basketball, and am still coaching tennis today…but severe knee pain was really slowing me down. After all conservative measures were no longer working, I turned to OA for help.
Dr. Scott Heithoff did a complete work-up and recommended total knee replacements. My first surgery was performed in 2003 and the other knee was replaced in 2005. I couldn’t be more satisfied. Dr. Scott is a tremendously skilled surgeon. He told me what to expect and was 100% on the mark both times. His easy personality put me at ease.
OA’s physical therapy staff also played a huge role in my care. Their knowledge, encouragement and professionalism, along with the coordinated personal approach with Dr. Scott, got me back to playing tennis in just nine weeks after my first procedure. Within six months after my second knee replacement, I was playing tennis completely pain free and still do to this day.
My advice to others, “Don’t wait until you can’t stand the pain. See OA today!”
