Directed by the region’s only fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon, Dr. William Braaksma, this year’s 10k, 5k, and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk event includes a charity shoe drive. Bring one lightly worn pair of shoes to donate and enter into a raffle for a small gift.

The Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron 10th Annual Fun Run medical director Dr. William Braaksma, the region’s only foot and ankle surgeon, joined Paul Miller on the WPHM Morning Show to go over the details of the Fun Run and discuss what makes this year’s event different. 

The 1-mile fun run, 5k, and 10k held at 940 River Centre Drive will be preceded by a charity shoe drive as part of Orthopedic Associates’ social impact project partnering with Kids in Distress Services, Inc., or K.I.D.S.

Registration is now open for Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron’s 9th Annual Fun Run on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. The community fitness event offers a 1-mile run starting at 7:30 a.m. and a 10K and 5K walk-or-run starting at 8 a.m. at the practice location, 940 River Centre Drive. Dr. Steven Heithoff of Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron recently participated in the London marathon, completing the last of the original Abbot Major World Marathons.

The original Abbot Major World Marathons are Chicago, Boston, New York City, Berlin, and London. Dr. Heithoff has completed 12 marathons to date with plans for more. He will compete in Ironman Wisconsin and the Chicago marathon this fall and run the Boston marathon again next spring.
